The whole world was put to a halt when the COVID-19 pandemic spread over the world. Many players took the vaccine for their and their family?s safety. Whereas a few including Kyrie Irving decided against taking the vaccine. People put forward the argument of whether NBA legends like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant would miss so much game time after refusing to take the vaccine. Once again, this narrative was put forward quite recently.

Former NBA veteran Gilbert Arenas sat down for a conversation with Vlad TV. They discussed the whole Kevin Durant trade and Kyrie Irving situation. Vlad asked Arenas whether MJ and Kobe would have refused to take the vaccine if that meant missing out on so many games.

To that, Arenas replied, ?I can’t answer that correctly. I know that they wouldn’t have missed no games. Would they have gotten a vaccine? Don’t know! Whether they had a fake vaccine card, probably!? The two laughed after his answer.

Arenas continued to talk about the rumored fake certificates around the sports for the vaccination. He also said, ?Because he[Kyrie] was so vocal about it that it was too hard to even fake it for him. ? You gotta remember, only New York and California was the only two, the space that needed it. So that means 80 percent of the NBA didn’t need the vaccine.?

Gilbert Arenas? comments were a clear testament of how ?crazy? Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant both were about playing the game of basketball. This is all speculation as to what they would have done in such a situation because nobody could have ever expected something like this to happen to the whole world. But nonetheless, they would have done anything possible to play the game they loved after such a long gap. And that is exactly the point Arenas wanted to put forward.

Why did Kyrie Irving refuse to take the vaccine?

Kyrie only played a total of 33 games in the last season with the Nets. The Brooklyn authorities, on the other hand, were understandably very strict regarding the vaccine policy. This restricted Kyrie to play the home games for a long time. He was not even allowed to train with the group for social distancing purposes.?

Kyrie refused to take the vaccine when it became mandatory across teams. Nets star then confirmed that he had not taken the vaccine. To back himself he stated, ?nobody should be forced to do anything with their bodies?.?

But the former Cleveland Cavaliers star was still hopeful that he would get to play again. He also confirmed that he had no desire to retire from the game. Kyrie reiterated that there was a lot to be done. He did play but not enough to make something out of a disappointing season, at the end.?
