Heading into the All-Star break, the Los Angeles Lakers are 13th on the Western Conference table. They have 27 wins and 32 losses to their name, with a PCT of .458. Throughout the season, the team led by LeBron James has struggled to remain consistent on the court; while injuries to key players have not helped their cause. Their inability to close out games and bag consistent wins led to frustrations among fans. They pointed fingers at certain players and attacked the front office for their choices. Following the trade deadline, the Lakers now have a new look to the team, and the hope is for the fortunes to change. While many believe that this change has come in a little late, others, like Magic Johnson, voiced a differing opinion.

Earlier in the day, Magic Johnson took to Twitter and wrote, “To get into the Playoffs the Lakers have to go into a winning streak.” Further, he added, “If they get in, nobody will want to play them in the Playoffs.” The Los Angeles Lakers legend’s optimism soared through heights, but fans were not pleased.

NBA fans shoot daggers at Magic Johnson

Fans rushed to reply to Johnson’s comments. They called him out for being a “bandwagon” and urged him to stop being optimistic. They bathed the comments section with tweets filled with sarcasm. Many stated that the five-time champion’s comments were “sensational.” Fans further added that the Lakers could make it to the play-in tournament and believed that the playoffs’ dreams were far-fetched. Here are some of the reactions:
