In contrast with the modern game, the old generation of NBA prided themselves on defense. Steve Kerr got the opportunity to share the floor with some of the league’s greatest defenders. Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Tim Duncan are only some of the elite stoppers the Golden State Warriors head coach played with. However, in a shocking recent admission, the 57-year-old named the greatest defender he has ever seen. Moreover, it isn’t one of his former teammates.
After donning the jerseys of two dynasties, Kerr has made a HOF-worthy career even as a coach. Leading arguably the most lethal modern-day dynasty, he has had the privilege to watch some of the most skilled talents. The most notable has to be Stephen Curry. Ranking as the most excellent shooter, the Baby Face Assassin is the spearhead of this dynasty. More offensive giants like Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson also played under the coach.

However, the man wrapping it all together was none other than Draymond Green. The defensive anchor is also their leading playmaker. A relentless defender, the Warriors head coach gave his veteran star the biggest compliment.

Steve Kerr stuns Twitter with Draymond Green take
Twitter exploded when the Bay Area head coach revealed a shocking secret. Despite winning five championships with peak defenders, he chose his own Warriors star, Green, to be the best defender. Steve Kerr said, “He’s the best defender I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been around some really good ones. … I’ve never seen anything like it.”
It surely comes as a huge surprise to many, especially fans of the old era. Kerr shared the floor with several of the best defenders ranging from positional to flexible. David Robinson and Tim Duncan had a knack for swallowing shots. On the other hand, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman both were capable of guarding the 1 to 5. Each of these elite defenders is among the top of the food chain with respect to All-defensive team honors. Yet, Kerr believes the best of them all is former DPOY, Draymond Green.

While his numbers may not scream greatness, his intellect and impact go beyond. Being the primary defender, Green positions himself in clever spaces to steal passes. Moreover, he can anticipate a fast break well with his high IQ. Likewise, doing it all on the defensive end, he has also emerged as a key facilitator for the Warriors offense. Without him, there might never have been a dynasty. Hence, Kerr seeing the four-time champ as someone special shouldn’t come as a surprise.
