Recently the Los Angeles Lakers legend opened up about this, adding how the solitude helped him to improve himself after the divorce.

The legal separation between the Lakers’ legend and Shaunie O’Neal has an impact even after 13 years of their divorce. O’Neal hinted many times that the divorce could have been avoided when reflecting on his past. However, recently in his podcast, Shaq disclosed how he improved himself after the divorce.

Shaquille O’Neal revealed how he had to improve after his wife and children left him. Shaq said, “After Mama and they left, and I walk in the house. The 90,000 sq-feet house and ain’t nobody in there, that’s when it really hit.”

Furthermore, he stated his mother, Lucille O’Neal, advised him to stay humble. And according to Shaq, he got better with time after he listened to his mother’s words.

He added, at one point in time that he was not receiving any texts or calls from his family. But after adhering to the advice of his mother, a lot of doors opened up for him along with bringing his family back.

The four-time champion added, “90,000 sq-feet house of rich marble emptiness.” He finished off by saying the day he ended his narcissistic personality was the day when he started to receive blessings from everywhere.

O’Neal and his relationship with Shaunie

Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie’s relationship started in the late 90s after he joined the Lakers. The couple married in December 2002 and arguably had everything. From an eye-catching Beverly Hills wedding to a 31,000-square-foot home in Florida accompanied by six children. But things started to go south between the couple in 2007. And they finally separated legally in the year of 2009, ending their marriage life.
