The Nets, who were expected to be championship contenders even after a decent record, were swept in the first round but the Celtics. This was not the best season for the Nets, as injuries and roster changes played a huge role. The team had the most skilled duo on its roster, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Irving was out for most of the season. His absence did affect the team and so did Durant’s when he got injured. Though Kyrie did have a chance to come back and play, he did not choose to do so.

Kyrie Irving had a lot going on in the middle of the season

In a recent interview, Kyrie talked about his situation in the middle of the season. During the regular season, Irving had the chance to play, but there was no plan in place according to him. Irving did not want to return because of personal reasons, though this did impact the team and the fans as well.

?I had the opportunity to play away games still, but there was no plan in place, there was no vision of how it was going to work for our team. And I think that really impacted not just me, but a lot of people. Just had to sit in that hot seat for a little bit and deal with it. The life of a martyr, bro.?, said Irving.

Kyrie was asked multiple times about his return or his rumored retirement during the season. With all the drama Kyrie did come back and to many people’s surprise, he was in shape. Though Kyrie was injured in just his second game back. His back-and-forth return during the season was indeed a problem for the team and the players. After all the drama and the playoffs, fans are wondering what the next season will hold for the Nets.
