Anthony Edwards has made the league take notice of his enormous potential. If he continues on the correct path, the former first overall pick has a bright and prolific career ahead of him. However, the 21-year-old recently landed himself in hot water after making certain homophobic comments on social media.

Edwards was in a vehicle and was being recorded. He rolled down his car window and could be heard hurling a scathing, derogatory comment toward a group of men standing on the sidewalk. The video was posted on his Instagram story but soon deleted.

One day after the video was posted on his Instagram, the player issued an apology on Twitter.

Apparently, the video was not posted on social media by the player himself. In fact, one of his friends in the car was the one who posted the video. And, according to seven-time NBA champion Robert Horry, Edwards needs to take up with whoever that friend is.

Horry expressed his views on the situation Edwards finds himself in on his podcast, the ‘Big Shot Bob Pod‘. He went on to rip Edwards’ friend apart, suggesting that his actions may have cost him a boatload of money.

“He (Anthony Edwards) probably knows who did that… cause this about to cost him probably about $250,000, probably comes with suspensions,” claimed Horry.

“So, whoever that person is, you know you got a posse. I’m like coming at him ‘Man lemme talk to you back here man. Imma put 250,000 of my hands on you just cause you cost me all this money.'”?

He then gave Edwards some advice, noting that as an athlete, he should surround himself with people who inspire him, have his back, and understand his platform. Furthermore, he noted that Edwards’ friend did not understand his platform and was ignorant about the trouble the athlete would encounter.

Anthony Edwards ended up getting fined $40,000 by the league

Robert Horry was concerned that Anthony Edwards might see a $250,000 fine rushing towards him. The NBA, however, fined the Minnesota Timberwolves player $40,000 for his homophobic comments.

The league announced on Tuesday that they found Edwards’ comments to be “offensive and derogatory.”

However, Edwards isn’t the first player to be disciplined by the league for anti-gay language. In fact, NBA players including Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, and Rajon Rondo have all found themselves in trouble for the same.

Anthony Edwards will undoubtedly be aiming to move on from this gaffe. Furthermore, he’ll be hoping to dazzle the NBA world with his talents next season.
