The only thing synonymous with basketball in all of history has been size. Likewise, over the history of the NBA, the league has seen some larger-than-life athletes. However, there might not be one as popular as Shaquille O’Neal. The Big Diesel entered the league in the era of big men. But it didn’t take him long to cement himself as one of the best through sheer dominance.
The 7-footer bullied defenses to a point players couldn’t handle the force he brought along with him. Dunking his way to four championships, the Los Angeles Lakers legend is regarded as one of the most dominant players in NBA history. The league had arguably never seen anyone like Shaq before. A man who could cover the floor with blazing speed while being the tallest player in the gym.
