Friction between NBA analysts and stars of the league is not a new thing. Players have called out analysts for criticizing them on multiple occasions and vice versa. Recently, former Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert and former NBA champion, Shaquille O’Neal, got into a war of words.
This started when Shaq talked about breaking up the duo of Gobert and Donovan Mitchell after the Jazz’s first-round exit from the NBA playoffs.
One thing led to another, and the two had a small altercation on social media. While Shaq criticized Gobert on ‘Inside the NBA’ and his podcast, Gobert clapped back on social media.

On the latest episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, the Los Angeles Lakers legend talked about Gobert and his big-money move to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Gobert asserted that he would help his team to the NBA Finals, and this gave Shaq an opportunity to take shots at Rudy.
“I don’t know about all that but, all I know is if you make all that money, don’t you think they will keep you? You know, that’s like having 400,000 in your bank, you bought 350,000 worth of Rolls Royce and you find out it was terrible. You crash it on purpose so you can get the insurance money back,” said Shaq.

This led to long discussions regarding the duo of Mitchell and Gobert. Talking on his podcast, Shaq asserted that although Rudy is great in defense, he offers nothing in the offense.
Spice Adams, O’Neal’s co-host, talked about how Rudy Gobert will hold the 4 time NBA champion to 12 points. Shaq said, “Twelve points? Yeah, in the first three minutes.” Things turned spicy when Rudy commented under a post and wrote, “I would lock his [Shaquille O’Neal] up.”
