NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon is one of the best centers ever to play the game of basketball. He was unstoppable with his post moves, and his defenders had a torrid time against him. However, he was not just an offensive threat; he was one of the best rim protectors ever as well. Olajuwon is still the block leader of the NBA. He also averaged 11.1 blocks per game in his career. However, the Rockets legend is not spoken enough and is not given enough credit due to his calm demeanor.

But it looks like, that has not always been the case. A former teammate of Olajuwon, Vernon Maxwell, recently revealed he wasn’t always calm. Maxwell was in attendance for the ‘No Chill with Gilbert Arenas’ podcast and talked about a variety of things. During the chat, the host asked the former champion about Olajuwon. The host touched on Olajuwon’s name, always getting overlooked, and asked Maxwell’s opinion.

The former championship winner said that Olajuwon was a quiet humble guy who didn’t say a lot, so he wasn’t in the spotlight like other superstars. However, that wasn’t the case always.

Maxwell revealed the time when Hakeem Olajuwon was in a locker room fight with him. He said that the ‘Dream’ was tough to deal with before he became a Muslim. The former Rockets veteran said that he was mad during the half-time of a game against the Seattle Supersonics. While going back to the locker room, Maxwell let his feelings known that he wanted others to push the ball up when he was up the court and he was cursing.

Seeing his antics, Olajuwon asked him to stop and be a professional. He replied, “Man, Dream, f**k you man. I don’t wanna hear that s**t. F**k you dream.” And they into the locker room and Maxwell sat in his spot. Then Olajuwon walked up to him and slapped him.
Maxwell said, “I looked up and said, ‘Man go ahead’ and POW! I said, ‘G*d d**n! This mot***fu***r slapped the s**t outta me.’ …That mot***fu***r hit so hard man knocked me off the chair… I picked up a big piece of glass. I was gonna chase Dream and stab the s**t out of him. But that’s when everybody ran out the g*d d**n locker room so I couldn’t get to nobody.”

Maxwell said that the police came in and intervened. He then said that after Olajuwon became Muslim, he was so quiet and humble. And he was a great teammate after that.
