The past few days have been about the Roe v. Wade verdict, along with people’s reactions to it. Along with US citizens, sports franchises have also made a statement. However, NBA team Cleveland Cavaliers have chosen to do something unique for their employees.

Additionally, other sports teams from Cleveland will be taking the same step.

As per reports, teams from Cleveland will be paying for their employee’s reproductive health care services outside of Ohio. The Cavaliers released a statement this week, explaining their move in detail. Of course, the Cavaliers are not the only organization who have made a statement.

Cleveland Cavaliers make a decision after Roe v. Wade Verdict

?The Cleveland Cavaliers, Monsters, Charge, Cavs Legion, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and Rock Entertainment Group stand for equality, and believe having full access to reproductive health care is a fundamental freedom of choice all women should have,? the franchise wrote.

They added that their employees are their priority, and so is their future. Hence, they will be covering costs of travel outside Ohio for reproductive health care.

According to the new law, abortion providers could face felony charges. Uber, Warner Brothers, BuzzFeed, and Disney have also made a similar move.

What did the NBA say in their statement?

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert made a joint statement about the law. They ended up promoting health care and equality, hoping to support their employees about the same.

That being said, along with NBA teams, players like LeBron James have also spoken up on their respective social media accounts. While some responses have been statements, some have been simple replies and reactions to tweets.

Furthermore, even personalities like Malika Andrews and Megan Rapinoe have made their statement. “In less than 24 hours, we celebrated equal rights for women, and now we react to women?s reproductive rights being taken away,” Andrews said, explaining the law in the process.

WNBA legend Sue Bird tweeted as well, declaring that she was ‘gutted’ over the decision with a broken heart to go along with it. Fans and other athletes have only been pouring in with support, publically stating their views.
