Dennis Rodman has done many bizarre things back in the day, both on and off the court. And the five-time NBA champion used to make headlines more for his off-the-court antics instead of his incredible plays on the hardwood. Rodman is arguably the best rebounder to ever play the game. But this throwback instance with a wrestling superstar was something that might?ve been harder to bounce back from. Even for ‘The Worm’.?

Dennis Rodman appeared on ?The Tonight Show With Jay Leno? back in 1999. This was after Rodman had won five NBA championships in the league and was almost in the twilight of his career.?
Dennis Rodman and his brief wrestling career
Rodman and Leno were talking about his wrestling stint with World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Rodman was re-signed in June 1999 for a five-show deal. That included four TV appearances and one ‘Road Wild’ match.?
?The Worm? already had ongoing battles with wrestling legend ?Macho Man? Randy Savage on WCW. Dennis Rodman once ‘kidnapped’ Randy?s girlfriend from the WCW show and the two went on to have a verbal exchange on the show.
So, as Leno and Rodman were talking about his wrestling appearances, Leno slyly brought up the topic of Rodman?s run-ins and interactions with Randy Savage. And he mentioned how Rodman ran away from Savage on the show.
Rodman quickly retaliated by mentioning how Savage?s girlfriend wanted to be with him instead. The Chicago Bulls legend said that to take a jab at the Macho Man and possibly also save face at the same time.?
Clearly, Jay Leno knew what was about to happen so he went on to instigate Rodman a little more. He said, ?If Randy were here, you wouldn?t run away from him?? To that, Rodman replied, ?Hell no. I?m not scared of anybody brother. Not at all brother, not at all.??

‘The Worm’ could not slither out of this one
Rodman tried to play it cool while saying that, not realizing that he would have to put his money where his mouth was. And before he knew it, Randy Savage made a surprise appearance on the show. Rodman seemed to freeze for a while when he saw the 6?1″ wrestler. Savage had a few words for Rodman in his own fashion. And the former Bulls player realized that there was no backing out of this situation.?
Rodman stood up and spread his arms, giving Randy the all-clear to come at him. And Randy did not hold back as he tackled and speared him over the furniture. The two got into a brawl on the show and were separated by the security team on the set.
