Brittney Griner was sentenced to nine years in prison in Russia on charges of drug smuggling. A vape pen containing hash oil was found in her bag as all of this happened at a Russian airport. As soon as the incident happened, many people came forward in support of her, and several NBA players stood up for her.?

For Griner, the prison sentence came after many months of on and off conversations. As we can see on social media, many fans came out in support of the WNBA star after the incident. Amidst all those supporters is Griner’s wife, Cherelle Griner, who is also enlisting the support of others to bring Griner back to her family.

Cherelle is Griner’s second wife, as before this she was married to WNBA player Glory Johnson. This marriage did not last long, however. They married in 2015, and after some time, their divorce was finalized in 2016.

When she was 25 years old, Johnson told PEOPLE. ?It wasn?t about other people. It was about us.?

The marriage between Griner and Johnson didn’t work out, but Johnson still showed support for her. As part of an interview she gave to the magazine, she discussed her position on this case.?

According to her: ?After all the things that she put me and my family through, I should hate this person. But at the end of the day, I still worry about how she?s taking all this,” she acknowledged to PEOPLE.

It’s great to see fans and family members supporting Brittney Griner. Her fans eagerly look forward to her return. Recently, some reports have come in claiming that she will serve as a basketball coach in prison during her time there.
