Shaquille O’Neal is known for his diverse interest in various walks of life. The four-time NBA champ has invested his time in many ventures across the fields of business, entertainment, and art. However, the diversity in his mindset and skills never ceases to amaze his fans. Recently, four-time NBA champ John Salley claimed to have once joined an infamous cult with the Los Angeles Lakers legend.

In a recent interview with DJ Vlad, John Salley claimed that he did not believe in the cult group The Illuminati. The host suggested that Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving had an Illuminati tattoo on his hand. Salley responded that it was strange for him as he was a part of the infamous occult group too, the Freemasons. Salley added that he was a part of the historic African American fraternity, Omega Psi Phi initially. However, his beliefs changed after discussions with his elders and Shaquille O’Neal.

John Salley makes a big revelation about Shaquille O’Neal joining a cult

John Salley shared how he got introduced to Freemasonry and how it has influenced his life. Moreover, Salley stated, “I was Omega Psi Phi and then the old heads said you got to move into this area, my brother, my uncle, my father. I moved in and learned what I needed to do. Me and Shaq had conversations about it.”

Salley revealed that he had a conversation about Freemasonry with Shaq. The admission prompted the host to confirm if Shaquille O’Neal was a Freemason too. The former Lakers star responded with a ‘Yeah’. John Salley shared how he decided to be a part of the infamous cult group after witnessing how the group had handled his close friend’s funeral and other affairs surrounding his passing in 1984.

Further, Salley admitted that it was extremely troubling for him to be a part of the group. While talking about the divided beliefs about the origins of the group, the 58-year-old said, “But man, It’s so much bills**t to join a group, its always. And everybody keeps saying House of Thrones and I’m happy that I watched it now.”

Salley reckoned that the dedicated practices and hierarchies followed by the group were frustrating for him at times. He compared the situation with the TV series ‘Game of Thrones’ which depicts the treatment of people based on which ‘House’ they are born in.

Salley shares his experiences as a Freemason

Meanwhile, John Salley talked about his journey since he joined the group. The former Lakers star revealed that as he grew older, keeping up to his pledge became a lot more challenging. However, Salley stayed dedicated to his commitment and went to the Los Angeles Scottish Rite. He claimed to have learned several things, including the history of the monument.
