LeBron James is currently 37 years old, and many believe it is the age when athletes need to hang up their shoes. If anyone knows James and his mentality, there is no doubt that he?s going to retire at his own will. The last few seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, however, have been feeble, to say the least. There have been a plethora of conversations on how the basketball legend might just retire. James, nevertheless, has rarely paid heed to such conversations. Recently, the four-time NBA Champion clapped back at critics with an optimistic reply.

After the recent win against the Washington Wizards, James sat for the post-match press conference. With questions pertaining to his aging self, King James had the perfect answer to shut everyone up.

LeBron James on critics calling him out for his age

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a sub-par 2022-23 season in the league. Although this doesn?t fit the standards of the legendary Lakers, almost everyone expected it. Fans and pundits alike saw through the team?s declining offensive capabilities and predicted a difficult season for the Lakers.

On Sunday, the Lakers won against the Wizards by a close margin to increase their record for 13 wins for the season. The fans would be relieved with the two-game winning streak, but nowhere near happy as playoff hopes seem to be slipping.

After the game, the four-time NBA Champion sat through the press conference and answered all the questions that came to him. James is going to turn 38 in a few weeks. Understandably, one question was aimed at his age and his ‘ongoing battle with Father Time’

?I?d like to think I?m winning.? said King James after being asked about his battle with aging. This isn?t the first time the 37-year-old has been asked this question, as many expect James to retire, sooner or later.

The NBA legend has always answered with humility, mentioning how he understands that he cannot go on forever. But for now, James has decided to stay, and it?s pretty obvious that the Lakers do need him.

James against the Wizards on Sunday

The behemoth and his performances are proof of why he should dispel any ideas of retirement. The Basketball superstar dropped 33 points against the Wizards on Sunday, in a much-needed win for the LA side.

The legend is just 732 points away from being the all-time top scorer of the NBA. As things stand, almost nothing is going to stop King James from achieving the feat.
