Among the many PSAs the Chicago Bulls legend has been a part of, his 1987 special on New Year’s Eve is still vivid in the memories of many older fans. However, the iconic PSA resurfaced on this New Year’s Eve, leaving younger fans in awe of a 24-year-old Jordan’s social initiatives.

A memorable Jordan PSA from 1987 recently resurfaced on social media. The resurfaced video was a special message released on NYE to raise awareness for drunk driving at the time. Jordan was chosen to be the voice in the campaign to further its reach. In the video, Jordan can be seen playing with the kids while a narrator narrates the campaign’s message surrounding the theme of the video.

At the end of the video, after dunking the ball, Jordan looked towards the camera to convey the campaign’s central message. He said, “If a driver’s been drinking, make your own move, don’t let a drunken driver take you anywhere.”

Though the message behind the campaign and the memorable video were noble, it received major pushback from posterity due to several reasons. Many complained about the confusing narration in the video. Moreover, many also wondered why a PSA about drink and driving was being shot in broad daylight. The involvement of kids and Jordan playing basketball with them also puzzled many fans.

Though the PSA received major pushback due to its production failures, it went down in history among the many iconic PSAs of Jordan.
