As a result, he sometimes got called out by his teammates for his alleged selfishness. On one occasion this tension escalated to such an extent that it led to him getting insulted in front of two dozen reporters by his teammates.

During a game between the Chicago Bulls and New Jersey Nets in 1991, Michael Jordan displayed his greatness by scoring 28 points in the first half. He finished the game with a score of 42 points, one rebound, and four assists before getting substituted in the third quarter.? Jordan was insulted by his teammates despite performing brilliantly.
According to the book by Sam Smith, ‘Jordan Rules,’ this game helped further corrode the relationship between Jordan with his teammates.? This book also delves deeper into how Jordan got insulted. Bill Cartwright said regarding Jordan’s performance in the game, “He didn’t have to score that many.” ?The most eye-catching thing happened when Craig Hodges and Horace Grant insulted Jordan in front of two dozen reporters after the game.

Grant asked Hodges, who used to call the performances of Jordan ‘the show,’ “What were you doing during the show?” Hodges replied, “I went out and got some popcorn. Did anyone miss me?”
Grant and Hodges felt that the game against the Nets wasn’t one that required such an almighty performance from Jordan. Sam Smith suggests that it was probably because of this that Grant and Hodges went as far as to call him out in front of the press.
