During the Monday night game against the Detroit Pistons, Doncic dropped another 50+ score, breaking his way into an elite NBA list. After his game against the Pistons, the 23-year-old registered his fifth career-50+ point game of the season. That meant the Slovenian international joined Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and James Harden on a historic list after his unreal display on the hardwood.?

Doncic dropped a record-breaking historic triple-double against the New York Knicks?earlier?this season with 60-21-10. It wouldn?t be a lie to say that the Mavericks superstar has single-handedly shouldered his team in the Western Conference table. Currently the fourth seed with a 28-25 record, he has scored the second-highest points this season with 1,569 points, averaging 33.4 per game so far.

What makes Doncic’s recent feat even more special is that he scored his fifth 50-pointer game before February. According to ESPN Stats & Info?research, Doncic is only the fourth player to achieve this feat in the last 50 years. Notably, Jordan, Bryant, and Harden all achieved this feat thrice in their career. Moreover, the Monday night game meant Doncic tied with greats like Wilt Chamberlain and Lebron James?in scoring five 50-point games before their 24th birthday.

The All-Star further joined a list with Jordan and James for most 50-pointers in their first 5 seasons. Notably, Jordan had done so 17 times at the same stage in his legendary career.?

Doncic leads the Mavs to another win

Doncic scored 53 points to take his side to a comfortable victory over the Pistons 115-105. Notably, Spencer Dinwiddie was the only player with a double-digit score apart from Luka with 12 points. With the season getting to the business end, the Mavs certainly require their star to continue firing on all cylinders. However, Doncic injured his right foot during the Thursday night game against the New Orleans Pelicans?which could greatly hamper the team?s progress. He left the game after scoring 31 points within his 23-minute spell on the court.
