The Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving hit the headlines after he failed to arrive at a new contract extension with the team and decided to go free agent after maturity. Moreover, as a recent development, the Dallas Mavericks traded their first-round picks, Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith for the star point guard. However, Irving took home $2.1 Million from the Nets as a trade bonus. Following the news, the fans took to Twitter to express varied opinions on Uncle Drew’s trade bonus.

The big Kyrie Irving trade ahead of the deadline garnered a lot of reactions from the NBA world. The Los Angeles Lakers legends Magic Johnson and LeBron James expressed their opinion on the trade update. Johnson took to his Twitter and said, “Personally, I’d love to see Kyrie in the purple and gold.” Eventually, the trade went in favor of the Mavs and reacting to it, James shared a cryptic tweet that read, “Maybe It’s Me.”

Kyrie Irving bags home $2 Million

As per Kyrie Irving’s previous contract with the Nets, the team had to provide a 15% trade bonus if the star didn’t void it. A recent tweet from Legion Hoops revealed that Irving received a $2 Million bonus for the trade. The tweet read, “Lost in all this madness, Kyrie Irving received a $2M bonus for being traded. Finessor.”

After the Kyrie Irving trade, the Nets could have serious concerns as their star Kevin Durant is yet to make a return to the hardwood from injury. Currently, in the 4th seed of the Eastern Conference, the Brooklyn side needs to stay afloat until KD joins them. 

Is the Irving trade guaranteed with the Mavs?

Though the fourth-quarter maestro is all set to don the Mavericks jersey, some reports suggest an alternate story. According to Marc Stein, the Mavs acquired Irving only on rental and not a confirmed trade. However, there is no official update from the Mavericks management regarding the same.
