The NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics have taken a very crucial turn this week. Game 3 ended in the Celtics’ favor, coming back from their blowout Game 2 loss. Of course, the game wasn’t without some drama, as the Warriors ended up delaying the game a bit with a technical error.

During their warmup, players noticed something off about their rim. Players were quick to point out their concerns, following which the staff at TD Garden measured the rim. Upon inspection, a two-inch difference was spotted.

While this might seem like a small error, it makes a huge difference. Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr admitted that these things do happen, but the players usually have a sharp eye and notice. Fans, however, did not share the same level of calm as Kerr.

As the two-inch difference could be trouble for any team, fans seemed unsurprisingly upset. Such incidents are enough for fans to come up with theories, while also worrying about their own team. This was no different, especially as fans made it clear that this is a ‘huge difference’.

Though a few fans were the voice of reason, many wondered if this was indeed a conspiracy. Fans even referred to the Celtics as scammers, determined to not let Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson shoot a three-pointer. Some even hinted at Boston playing tricks like this to throw their opponents off the game.

“It happens every once in a while,” Kerr said. “Players have a really sharp eye for that. The players can tell.”
