Over the years, we have all seen Curry chew on his mouthguard. And he does that on a regular basis. Often during timeouts and when not playing, Curry is seen chewing on his guard. Many fans have said that this habit might not be healthy. But that hasn’t deterred Curry from continuing to do it.

But he has gotten into trouble on a couple of occasions due to his iconic mouthguard.

The league fined Stephen Curry $75,000 for throwing his mouthguard

It was Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals. The Warriors were trailing big against the Cavs and were trying to avoid a Game 7. Curry was having his best game of the series, but he also got into foul trouble. And with a little over four minutes to go, Curry was trying his best to get the Warriors back into the game. And he tried to steal the ball.

But the refs found his action illegal and called a questionable foul on him. This caused Curry to get irate, as this was his sixth foul, and would have to leave the game. And he threw his mouthpiece at a fan in anger. This made him get ejected, and this was Curry’s first ejection of his NBA career.

The second time was after he won his second championship. It was a regular season game against the Memphis Grizzlies and the Warriors were trying to come back in this game well. Curry drove to the rim and he finished a layup and he seemed to get fouled in the process. But there was no call.

This caused Curry to lose anger again, and he threw his mouthguard at the referee. And this led to an automatic ejection. The league also fined him on both occasions. For the first time, he was fined $25,000, while the second time he was fined $50,000 for a total of $75,000.
