Kobe Bryant was one of the realest people to ever play the game of Basketball. An extremely popular individual, Kobe was endeared by fans across the globe. Known for his Mamba mentality, the toughness he brought to the court is incomparable to this day. Cut from the same cloth as Michael Jordan, Kobe too was known to take things personally.

Famously holding a grudge against coach George Karl for benching him during the 1998 All-Star game, Kobe later revealed that he never wanted to lose to Karl, which he never did. Keeping his word Kobe eliminated George’s Nuggets thrice in 08,09 and 2012. Reminiscing about one such ‘took it personal’ moments, a notable 6-time NBA All-star shared quite the revenge story.

During an appearance on Podcast P?with Paul George, Bulls star Demar DeRozan shared a story involving Kobe and himself. In a discussion with PG13 the former Toronto star revealed that Kobe once took things personally with him.

Recounting the incident he recalled, “I remember I was wearing some Jordan 10s. We walked out on the court, he looked at me and said, ‘The fu** you got on your feet,’ and shook his head at me.”

Even though he had quite the history with Michael, Kobe didn’t beef with DeRozan just because he wore Jordans. According to Demar he had always worn Kobes throughout his career. It was Vince Carter who questioned the star’s choice to wear Kobe’s shoes against him.

Recounting his conversation with Vince, he stated, “He (Vince) was like, ‘Man you wear those when you play vs Kobe?’ I was like, ‘Fu** it, I ain’t wearing ’em next time I play Kobe.'” And that’s when things took a personal turn.

Kobe’s distaste for Jordan

Kobe and Michael Jordan were both sore losers, both men hating being on the wrong end of the scoreline. Kobe’s beef with George Karl also stemmed from his competition with Michael, as the then-Seattle Sonics coach benched Kobe when he was going head-to-head with Jordan’s team from the East.
