Many prominent NBA players and legends have gone on to become authors in the future. NBA legend Charles Barkley decided to do the same when he wrote ‘Who’s Afraid of a Large Black Man?’ in 2006. The book captured conversations of Barkley with some popular figures, including Tiger Woods, about many sensitive topics.
Many sports stars and legends write about their own experiences and their success story of how they overcame hardships. The Philadelphia 76ers legend wanted to the experiences of other stars like Woods as well through his book.

Barkley’s?book had very sensitive conversations on topics some would like to avoid. Many prominent personalities like Samuel L. Jackson, Barack Obama, Morgan Freeman, and Tiger Woods among others were a part of it.?
The book highlighted many of the issues of society through the words of other legends. An excerpt from the book delved into what Woods wanted to do after he retired from playing golf.?
Tiger Woods on his future in 2006
Back in 2006, Tiger Woods, a close friend of Charles Barkley decided to be candid. ?I’m not going to play golf forever. When I think I’m not good enough to play anymore and win, I’m gone,? stated Woods in Barkley?s book.
He further added,??I’ve always told my friends that, and they all think I’m crazy. My dad laughs at me sometimes when I say that when I do quit, when I’m done, I don’t need to be remembered as a golfer. I want to be remembered for whatever social impact I’ve had around the world.?

Woods also mentioned the need for education and understanding of the world in general. The 82-time PGA Champion is the definition of an elite athlete, but according to him, education is primary in every life. He emphasized the need of developing minds in a forever-changing world.?
Fast forward a few years from the book and Woods was hit by the infidelity scandal. He and Elin Nordegren were divorced in 2010. Furthermore, injuries took a toll on him. Many wrote him off. However, he made a huge comeback and won his fifth Masters in 2019.
Tiger Woods and Charles Barkley were very close friends. Back in 2011, the former MVP commented on the struggles of the golf legend as he mentioned that he ?almost started crying? about it. However, the two are not on speaking terms at the moment.
