Two California teams left it all out in the first 48 minutes of the 2023 playoffs. The Sacramento crowd was roaring as playoff basketball was back in the city. For the first time since 2006, the Sacramento Kings were on the biggest stage of basketball. And their journey began with a chance to dethrone the reigning champion, the Golden State Warriors. On one end, the Kings are young and determined to prove they are back. On the other hand, the veteran Warriors refuse to relinquish the title. It made for a spectacle, a battle worthy to attract the most famous eyes.

And it did just that. Several celebrities such as Gary Payton, Kings legend Vlade Divac and others came along to the Golden 1 Center to match the contest.

Celebrities show up to watch Stephen Curry and the Warriors face the Kings

The most famous of personalities showed up to watch what was a war between two resilient sides. Rap legend 50 Cent came out in a Kings jacket. With ‘Light The Beam’ engraved on his jacket, the entrepreneur wasn’t alone. To fire up the home crowd also came former Sacramento Kings stars Vlade Divac and Jason Williams to watch their franchise embark on the playoff journey.

Gaming superstar Dr. Disrespect, still in character, also made a surprise appearance enjoying the action from the courtside. And then there was the father watching his son fight for the win. Gary Payton sat in the stands analyzing the game and watching his blood Gary Payton II compete. Unfortunately, he had to go through a scary moment when the 30-year-old hurried to the locker room after an apparent injury. Thankfully, he checked back into the game soon after.

The energy and goosebumps had set in the Golden 1 Center, and what followed was a head-on battle. Either side showed no quit. The Warriors took the early lead. The Kings would soon extinguish the deficit and give their fans what they have longed for 16 years. After a dramatic back and forth, the Beam once again hit the skies of the city.

After a flurry of clutch buckets, Stephen Curry had his hand up in agony as he missed the game-tying three-point shot. He finished the night with 30 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. In contrast, the Kings’ point guard, De’Aaron Fox once again partnered up with his college mate Malik Monk to secure the win. In his playoff debut, the young All-Star erupted for 38 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals.
