After the separation of the legendary Heatles, Miller re-joined LeBron James in the Cavaliers before joining the Denver Nuggets with a rookie,?Nikola Jokic. Miller and Jokic were teammates for 2 years. While Miller was in the concluding phase of his career, Jokic had just started. The two formed a friendship there and have been in touch since then.

From their time, Miller used to give the young Joker a hard time. While the reserved Serbian didn’t use to say much, he didn’t mind either. Talking smack and trash talk is a part of the game. Moreover, the same coming from a teammate is equivalent to adding fuel to the fire.

In a recent interview with Let It Fly, Mike Miller talked about his recent ventures and dived briefly into his basketball career. In a story about Jokic, he mentioned how he had to be on the other side of the table for once. The sharpshooter told viewers how Jokic called him up at 3 in the night to simply talk trash.

It is certain that Nikola was simply?Jokering around. After all, Mike is the one who came up with his popular nickname – The Joker.

Further in the podcast, Mike says even though he didn’t know that Nikola would win two MVPs and a championship this early, he knew Jokic was a unique talent. He mentions that despite the game being fast for younger players, Nikola made people around him better. Other things that set Jokic apart from other rookies were his distinctive approach and individualistic mannerism toward the game.

Miller says he believes Jokic will be a Hall-of-Fame type player at some point in his career.

After making Nikola Jokic and Denver his last NBA stop, Miller auditioned for an interesting journey for himself. Initially, Miller joined as an assistant coach for the University of Memphis under NBA All-Star Penny Hardaway. With his two years with Memphis, he earned a reputation as top recruiter in the country.
