A close look at the Victor Wembanyama-Britney Spears Debacle

As it happened, Victor Wembanyama was at a hotel in Vegas, interacting with fans gathered to see him. Britney Spears was at the same place, and she too wanted to say ‘hello’ to the 19-year-old NBA star. Spears approached Wembanyama’s entourage and tried to talk to him and get a picture. As Wembanyama puts it, she grabbed him from the back. Meanwhile, Spears says she tapped on the Spurs star’s shoulder to call him. Anyhow, soon Wemby’s security guard intervened and allegedly backhanded the pop singer.

TMZ has now reported the account of an eyewitness named Brian Grajales, who was at the hotel during the incident. Grajales says she “infiltrated”?into Wembanyama’s circle, leaned in, and said “Excuse me, sir, excuse me, sir,” in order to take a picture with the 7 feet star.

As Grajales puts it, the head of Wemby’s security backhanded her in the face. The witness added, Spears’ sunglass fell off and they couldn’t recall if she fell, since it was pretty crowded around her. Wemby walked into the restaurant and Spears screamed, “This is f**king America!!!,”?the eyewitness added.

TMZ earlier reported that the security’s hand hit the singer’s hand, and it was her hand that ultimately hit her face. Anyhow, both Spears and Wembanyama have broken their silences on the infamous meeting earlier.

Hours after the incident with Britney Spears, Victor Wembanyama addressed it in a press conference. Wembanyama says someone grabbed him from behind and he could hear them say ‘sir.’ Wemby’s security asked him not to turn back and walk forward. The 19-year-old added he just knew the security guard pushed her away.

Meanwhile, Britney Spears released a lengthy statement saying she only tapped Wemby on the shoulder, unlike him saying she grabbed him from behind. She has also said the player’s security backhanded her in front of a crowd, knocking her glasses off. In fact, the pop icon condemned increasing acts of physical confrontation in her statement. She concluded her take by thanking the Las Vegas PD for their cooperation.
