Unlike some fans and pundits who looked down on the Poole-Paul trade, Green sounded very optimistic about CP3’s addition. As Green puts it, he led a pack of young Warriors which he called the “second unit.”?

Apparently, during the last season, he and Stephen Curry did not get much time together on the court. In Chris Paul, Draymond Green sees a potential mentor who could take the reins of the ‘second unit.

“CP is great with young guys. De’Andre Ayton looked like a bust before CP came to Phoenix, no disrespect Ayton,”?said Green.
“CP went there and all of a sudden Ayton became an All-Star level player. And I think what he [Chris Paul] would do for Jonathan Kuminga and unlocking Kuminga is huge. I look forward to learning that from him. He has always been incredible at mentoring young guys,” Green added, referring to Paul.

For Green, CP3’s addition also means the end of his uneasy relationship with teammate Jordan Poole and the toll it took on the GSW.

It was perhaps after seeing the team’s morale going down that the GSW front office decided to put the issue to bed. They had to let go of the youngster in whom once they saw the side’s future. But given the experience Chris Paul brings to the table, he indeed can be a sensei?for the youngsters. Besides, he too can buckle up confidently for a maiden ring in a star-packed team such as the Warriors.
