It’s been well over a year since three-time Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard left the NBA. He infamously signed for a Taiwan side with a whopping salary and has often been on the receiving end of Shaquille O’Neal‘s jokes. Although he’s not in the action, it seems like NBA fans cannot get enough of Howard. Just days after the 2020 NBA champion landed himself in controversy, fans on Twitter have brought forth an interesting comparison between two former stars who played with LeBron James and Stephen Curry.
A viral tweet has caught the attention of the NBA world. In the tweet, the fans are asked to give either DeMarcus Cousins or Howard a second chance at the NBA.

DeMarcus Cousins and Dwight Howard were once regarded as two of the best big men in the league. While Howard played a long career and also won an NBA title in 2020, Cousins wasn’t that lucky.

Injuries derailed his career, and he joined the Puerto Rican side, Guaynabo Mets after the 2021-22 NBA season. The four-time NBA All-Star last played for the Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic.
“He still has what it takes to play in the NBA but is taking his talents to basketball-crazy Puerto Rico”, said the Mets after signing the 32-year-old free agent, according to NBA.com.
Interestingly, Cousins was set to join Dwight Howard in the Taiwan League before he left for Puerto Rico. Having spent many years battling each other on the court, Howard and Cousins are now merely an online debate.
It left fans wondering who would work better if given a second shot at the NBA. Is it the tried and tested Howard or the unlucky Cousins?
This comes during a time when Howard is facing flak for allegedly harshly treating his son in a gym video.
What did the fans have to say about this debate?
Nostalgic fans on Twitter were left wondering about this intriguing question.
However, it seems a majority of the fanbase is tilting towards Cousins. One of the main reasons is that they have already seen Howard accomplish a lot.
Some fans said Boogie has the higher ceiling over Dwight.
Boogie had the potential to be a much better player than he was. Dwight was great. If we’re talking go back and start over Boogie would have a higher ceiling to be better than he was over Dwight. If we’re just talking next season, it’s easily Dwight because he will be a role guy

Another fan sides with Boogie because of he can stretch the floor better.
I’m gonna go with Boogie because he’s been dealt so many more bad hands than Dwight.

It’s mind boggling that he’s not on an NBA roster, especially in this era where stretch 4s & 5s are a premium. Boogie can stretch the floor & bang inside the paint.
Dwight Howard, too, had his fair share of supporters. A fan wrote, Dwight has team-leading experience which makes him the better choice.
Dwight…He’s led his team to a finals before and has always been a better class act than Cousins

While some call him a champion.
Dwight obviously he’s a champion

While some were actually confused, pointing out both have equally great potential!
