Are Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson going the Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen way? Well, another buzz in the NBA offseason suggests that the Golden State Warriors sharpshooters might follow suit for all the wrong reasons. And the epicentre of this discourse happens to be an analyst known for his spirited commentary.
Both Warriors appear to be content with their success as a team, and boast a laid-back competitivness. But analysts are recalling Klay’s issue with Jordan Poole last season to score some points for future.
Split in Splash Brothers?

According to the NFL Insider, Pat McAfee, the splash brothers probably might start hating each other like MJ and Pippen.
In a recent discussion, McAfee said that the way Pippen was bitter towards Jordan, Klay could be too with Curry. All of this is probably because fans will talk more about Curry and his triumphs with Golden State Warriors in the future.
“Steph Curry, the basketball player, of course, and also golfer. Saw him chip in, literally at Edgewood or whatever, and I appreciate him and everything he’s about,” McAfee said.
“And Klay Thompson, I know at one time he was part of the Splash Brothers. Was just knocking down threes – massive piece to the four rings. I did not know he had his own shoes, his own polo…Are we staring down, 15-20 years from now, another Scotty Pippin and Jordan situation here with Klay Thompson and Steph Curry? … Are we worried about that, or is Klay Thompson just an incredibly cool guy?”
Unlike Jordan and Pippen, McAfee added, there doesn’t appear to be a significant personality difference between Klay and Curry.
Why are relations between Pippen and Jordan bad?
Both Jordan and Pippen started their careers in the 80s. But while MJ became a basketball icon, Pippen mostly found himself in a shadow of his teammate’s growing stardom. The Bulls however grew up together and defended each other.
“That respect we had on the court, that competitiveness we took through to the top – it was special,” Pippen told the Guardian in 2020. “That was the respect we had for each other, because we had to be on the court to do what we did. We had to be dominant.”
But the beef began with the Last Dance.

“They glorified Michael Jordan while not giving nearly enough praise to me and my proud teammates,” Pippen wrote in his November 2021 Unguarded memoir, alleging Jordan’s The Last Dance docuseries didn’t feature enough of their teammates. “Michael deserved a large portion of the blame. The producers had granted him editorial control of the final product. The doc couldn’t have been released otherwise. He was the leading man and the director.”
The duo’s relationship tumbled further when MJ’s son Marcus and Pippen’s ex-wife, Larsa, started dating.
