It’s nearing a week since the start of NBA Free Agency. Over the period of these few days, teams have already made some blockbuster moves. The Houston Rockets and the Memphis Grizzlies have gathered most of the buzz, as they have been quite active in the market. After adding 2011 MVP Derrick Rose to their team, the Grizzlies aren’t done yet. This time, they are recruiting someone who has worked under Michael Jordan before.
Unrestricted Free Agent Kelly Oubre Jr. has been linked to several teams across the league. However, it seems like the Grizzlies stand the best chance of landing him.

The Memphis Grizzlies have slowly turned out to be one of the striving forces in the West. Led by Ja Morant, they have made the playoffs in the last two seasons, but they have faltered when it matters most.
Moreover, there have been off-court issues that have plagued the team. Leaving all issues aside, the Grizzlies still have one of the best rosters in the West and they are looking to add some depth in the wings.
The name that has emerged is Kelly Oubre Jr. “The Grizzlies could emerge as a realistic destination for UFA Kelly Oubre Jr. As one of the top free agents left on the board, Memphis could be in the market for an experienced weapon on the wing”, reported NBA Insider Jake Weinbach.

The 27-year-old started as a decent role player in Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets side during the 2021-22 season. Following some brilliant performances off the bench, he played 40 games last season.
His deal ran out a few days ago and Michael Jordan decided to let him go in the last few days of his Hornets’ ownership. Shortly after, the Chicago Bulls legend sold his majority stake for a huge profit.
The Grizzlies signed a cult hero recently
Derrick Rose is a name that is nostalgic for an entire generation of basketball fans. After all, he mesmerized audiences around the world with his electrifying plays during his time with the Chicago Bulls from 2008 to 2012. They adjudged him the youngest MVP ever in 2011 and an ACL injury ruined his career following this career high.
