It is no secret that Kevin Durant is a man who does not just possess athletic talent but artistic skills as well. Not only does the 2x champion has great taste in music but he also tends to put his artistry to work during his time away from the court. Additionally, the NBA superstar knows to give credit where credit is due. Therefore, when it came to choosing between two iconic rappers, the 13x All-Star impressively had a list of reasons he provided to back his ultimate choice.

Over a decade ago, KD teamed up with fellow basketball superstar LeBron James for an off-court venture. During the 2011 NBA lockout, the duo came up with a song called ‘It Ain’t Easy‘. However, the song was never made public until 2017, when a clip was leaked online. The single was eventually released on Soundcloud in 2018.

The former Brooklyn Nets star recently appeared on the latest episode of Boardroom’s The ETC. As the duo got to talking, podcast host Eddie Gonzalez asked Kevin Durant to give his take on the outcome of a potential Verzuz battle between 50 Cent and Lil Wayne. While KD agreed that it would not be an easy face-off, 50 Cent would nevertheless win the battle if such an event took place.

He explained, “It’s not going to be a clear-cut win for Wayne against 50 Cent and these records that he has from ’02 to let’s say ’07, ’08? And I know Wayne went on an insane run after that but that five or six years period for G-Unit and 50 was incredible. It’s like one of the best runs of all time hip-hop.”

Furthermore, he added, “He’s had a 20-year run based off on what he created back then and it has so many avenues that he built off of that run. In turn, had so many pivots in his career like 50 is, he’s one of the greatest.”

2x NBA champion talks about his favorite album

Months before declaring 50 Cent ‘one of the greatest’, Kevin Durant hailed Future for one of his 2022 albums. While ranking his favorite artists in one of The ETCs podcast episodes, KD talked about his appreciation for Future and ranked his album ‘I Never Liked You’ as the ‘Best Album of the Year’. He also named Drake, Young Thug, and several other artists in his top five list but Future’s ‘transparency, vulnerability, and confidence’ ended up winning Durant’s favor.
