The Los Angeles Lakers have seen better seasons than their current campaign. One of the most successful franchises is going through major issues and is struggling to get things going. In light of this, heavy rumors of LeBron James going back to Cleveland also came up.
However, it seems these were just rumors as his agent clarified the King is here to stay.

The Lakers have been bombarded with injuries this season. With the formation of their ‘Big 3’ being the pivotal point, they have barely played together. Going through a three-game losing streak, the purple and gold are once again struck out.
Anthony Davis is out for a couple of weeks and James may have picked up an injury in the last game as well.
With the kind of season they are having, there were rumors that the Lakers may try to go young and trade for James. However, James’ agent quickly put an end to all these rumors.
LeBron James is not going back home
NBA insider, Shams Charania, made an appearance on the Pat McAfee show recently. They spoke about the Lakers’ ongoing problems and a potential LeBron trade in the mix. Charania set the record straight and said LeBron James is not going anywhere.
However, he did reveal that they have been active on the market, as the Westbrook trade hasn’t paid off for them.

He said: “I spoke to LeBron’s agent, Rich Paul and he said that talk in itself is just ridiculous and it’s totally false. LeBron James isn’t leaving the Lakers. Now the question is how can the Lakers get better. This is their team, this is the hand they have been dealt. They made that trade for Russell Westbrook in the summer and it hasn’t paid dividends. This team doesn’t look like it has the young legs that they need to have & they have been very active in the trade market.”

This is a huge relief for Laker fans as James is not going anywhere. With their struggles, all season, the departure of the ‘King’ would put them in deep trouble. However, it seems they may be looking to move Westbrook before the trade deadline.
Charania explained that there are a few guys the Lakers would love to have: notably, Ben Simmons and Jerami Grant. Simmons is yet to play a game this season, but if the move does happen, he would add tremendously on the defensive end. On the other hand, Grant is a great offensive threat and has the shooting touch to back it up.
