4x NBA champion of the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry, is going as strong as ever. The 34-year-old point guard recently won his first-ever finals MVP. After entering the league, Curry transformed and revolutionized the game, unlike any player before. Curry looks to do the same, but this time outside the confines of an NBA court. Stephen Curry and his wife, Ayesha Curry, have already made some solid plans post-retirement.

Stephen Curry has been the face of the league for over a decade. Over that span, Curry has made a fortune through salary and endorsements. The 2x NBA MVP is set to become a billionaire after signing his inevitable lifetime contract with Under Armour. Apart from the lavish lifestyle, Curry has donated a significant chunk of his net worth to charitable causes. However, his latest project with his wife seems to be his main focus in the off-season. Stephen and Ayesha Curry recently featured in the Town and Country philanthropic issue to talk about their organization based in Oakland.

Stephen Curry and his wife, Ayesha Curry, founded a non-profit foundation in 2019 based out of Oakland. The foundation’s primary goal is to enhance the lives of children in and around the Oakland area through innovative, scalable, and open-source solutions. They plan on achieving their goals by focusing and improving on the three primary functions of childhood; Eating, Learning, and Playing.

In the sit down with Town and Country magazine, the couple shed more light on how the foundation came to be and what the future holds. The couple, along with the CEO of the foundation, have already started working on 3-5 year expansion plans. Curry said during the interview, “When the ball stops bouncing, the work won’t stop.”

Curry already talking about retirement just after winning a chip will surely upset some fans. However, it’s inspiring to see the Dubs superstar invested in such noble work. Therefore, Curry’s eventual retirement from his Hall of Fame career will involve life-changing philanthropic work. Stephen Curry seems to be wholly invested in the project, both financially and mentally. In the off-season, Curry dedicates a lot of time to focus on the foundation’s operations and expansion plans.

The couple set up shop in Oakland in 2019 after Stephen’s team, the Golden State Warriors, moved to San Francisco after 47 seasons. The Oakland area is less affluent and more diverse when compared to San Francisco. Moreover, the couple had lived there for over a decade. Thus, all the reasons made them affirm their cause’s location in Oakland.

Since its inception in 2019, the foundation has aided thousands of children in Oakland by constructing playgrounds and schoolyards throughout the city, distributing over 500,000 books, and assisting in distributing over 25 million meals and 2 million pounds of produce.
