Things go south for the Seattle Storm as Jewell Loyd injured herself again during their Wednesday night game against the Dallas Wings. The 29-year-old star, who missed a game due to an ankle injury last month, succumbed to another one. Unfortunately, she sustained the injury amid the team’s last lap to find a playoff berth. The severity of the injury isn’t clear yet. However, the star returned to the court despite her painful fall. Notably, the team had a shaky start to the season until Loyd and Ezi Magbegor steadied the ship.
Subsequently, the duo found themselves a spot in the All-Star game. Moreover, Loyd is currently in her breakout season as she leads the team’s offense with a steady average of 23.8 points this season. Despite her overall performance, the team still finds itself at the bottom of the Western Conference. Additionally, they are in a race with the Chicago Sky to seal the last playoff berth being only four games behind them.

The Storm took on the Wings in a Wednesday night encounter in front of a packed crowd. Five minutes into the first quarter, Jewell Loyd attempted a jumper from the free throw line. Even though she scored the bucket, she rolled her ankles while landing and immediately held on to her ankle in pain. The referee stopped play, and she left for the locker room with the physios.
After a short break, the point guard returned and displayed her explosive best. She scored 31 points in her 35-minute outing on the court. Despite her comeback performance, the team suffered a defeat.
Fans on social media accused the opposing team for not providing space for Loyd to complete her jumper. Notably, the slight interruption in the first quarter impacted the final score of the game. The Storm lost the game 65-76.
