The two-time WNBA champion A’Ja Wilson recently appeared on the All The Smoke podcast. There she spoke about her season and how she has been performing exceptionally well. She was even nominated for the MVP candidacy but was disappointed as she was unable to win it due to that one fourth-place MVP vote. However, one of the hosts compared her with the best shooter in the NBA, Stephen Curry. And coincidently Curry had publically spoken about her and said that he would want her in his dream expansion team.
So when she was asked about how she felt being compared to him, Wilson had some words of wisdom as a reply.

While in conversation, Matt Bernes spoke about how he has played against Steph Curry and with him. He also added to that and said, “He in our game is a selfless superstar with no ego. A lot of people say you are similar … a superstar with no ego, ‘it’s all about the team, it’s all about winning’. Where does that come from?” To that, Wilson replied, “My parents, they are kinda those two people that are like, ‘You know everybody eats, it’s not good’. I mean, the top gets lonely cuz you are pretty much up there by yourself, but you can always bring up others with you.”
She further added and said, “I knew when we were coming here when they drafted me to Vegas, I was like ‘this is gonna take a lot of sacrifice, it’s gonna take a lot of adversity’. It’s cool when you get a cup or an MVP, but when you get them rings like ‘we all did this’ I feel like that’s the real big moment.” However, despite not winning the MVP award, she made a statement throughout all her performances.
Wilson was visibly disappointed after losing the MVP award. However, she won her second consecutive Defensive Player of the Year award. She was able to average 23.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 2.3 blocks. Due to this, she was in the “dream team” of the 4x NBA champion, Stephen Curry.

During the Golden State Warriors’ media day, NBA superstar Stephen Curry showed his love for the WNBA by presenting his fantasy squad. Curry picked A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces and Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty as his three WNBA stars for his fantasy expansion squad. Curry’s dream squad picks show his love for the league’s finest players as a devoted WNBA fan.
Wilson’s flexibility on both sides of the court was unrivaled, making her a formidable opponent. Despite missing out on the MVP, she was named Finals MVP after guiding the Aces to a record back-to-back title. This has cemented her place as one of the WNBA’s most powerful players.
