About a week since the biggest shocker of NBA trades, and disbelief still lingers. Luka Doncic is ready to adorn the Lakers jersey on Monday, and LeBron James excited to share the court. Yet, one can’t shake off the vastness of the move. Flau’jae Johnson, fresh off attending a New Orleans Pelicans game, could not help but dive into the NBA happenings.
In the recent episode of Best of Both Worlds with Flau’jae, the LSU star shared her disbelief regarding the Lakers trade. Especially given there are talks of the two being in plans to settle in their cities just days ahead of the announcement. “AD was just buying a house in L.A. Luka was just buying a house in Dallas, and then, boom, you traded. NBA is brutal, man,” she expresses.
While the news is unconfirmed about Anthony Davis’ plans, ESPN reports the former Dallas Mavericks star was just beginning a house hunt. In his letter to the Mavs fans following his trade, Luka admitted that he’d thought that he’d be spending his entire career with the franchise. “I am leaving a city that will always feel like a home away from home,” he had shared. The heartbreak was evident not just through the letter but through the reports that revealed Doncic cried after hearing the news and refused to pick up any of the calls from the GM.

It was as big of a shocker to the 5-time All-Star as to the fans, if not more. Nonetheless, he is ready to get back on the court and play the game that means a whole lot to him. “No matter where I play the game, I’ll do so with the same joy, passion and goal – to win championships,” he writes.

For Flau’jae Johnson that’s a win on the Lakers side. “I really think that the Lakers won the trade,” she adds on the podcast. However, it is not going to be immediate. She believes basketball is all about chemistry and the Lakers are going to need some time to adjust. “The Lakers may have talent, but time builds chemistry.”
But LeBron’s already optimistic.
Having considered Luka his favorite player for a while in the NBA and knowing he (Doncic) has been one of the next generation of players he inspired, LeBron believes it is going to be a seamless transition. The 4x champion also shared his readiness through an Instagram post. “Coming soon👀…” he wrote alongside a magic wand and a crown emoji to go with an image of him sitting by Luka’s side. He may have initially thought the trade to be a hoax, but he is up for a challenge.

Both LeBron and Luka being ball-dominant players has been speculated a major concern. Flau’jae Johnson is one among the many to ride that wagon. However, she believes it is going to be a better opportunity for the Mavs star to learn under King James.
“Luka being able to be under LeBron like this is going to make him one of the greatest players in the world. LeBron can teach him so much,” she says. Moreover, given both the players have high IQ and Bron has been arguably the best player in the league for over a decade, a few are sure the two can make things work out. LA Clippers Ty Lue will debate you on that.
On the other hand, Anthony Davis has his questions going into this scenario. While there is not one person to doubts his on-court ability, his ability to stay durable does raise questions. He was supposed to make his Mavs debut on Thursday after dealing with an abdominal muscle strain and sitting out since Jan 28, but Dallas has reportedly moved his appearance to Saturday night against Houston. As for Luka, he is reported to debut with the Lakers on Monday vs. Jazz.
