The Milwaukee Bucks faced a significant setback at the end of the regular season. Their star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has led the team this season to success, has been sidelined. In their last matchup against the Boston Celtics, as the Bucks raced to victory, 104-91, their power forward, exited the court during the third quarter after suffering a left calf strain. The instance led Antetokounmpo to undergo an MRI scan and ultimately pulled a stop on his regular season.

“No timeline or anything like that,” HC Doc Rivers had stated on Antetokounmpo’s further presence, with later reports ruling him out for the rest of the season. However, a few days into the unwelcomed incident, Shams Charania brought along rather hopeful news for the fans and the franchise.

In a recent post on X by Run It Back, NBA Insider, Charania said, “Giannis Antetokounmpo is out the rest of the regular season, the final three games as we expected…He’s superhuman, he’s come back from these injuries before way earlier than anyone expected, so there’s obviously going to be that hope that he can do it again.

According to reports, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s is currently in rehab and has been cleared of initial doubts of suffering from an Achilles tendon issue. However, this injury adds to a list of ailments the ‘Greek Freak’ has faced this season, all on the same leg. But as Charania points out, “these calf strains are gonna be one or two weeks at minimum. But with Giannis of course, he is a superhero, he’s comeback from these injuries before, way earlier than anyone expected.”

It is expected that Giannis will do everything to be available for game 1 of the Bucks in playoffs. The Game of Bucks is around 10 days away and the franchise looks to have the forward up and ready.

Bucks await a reliable force in Antetokounmpo

Despite the setback, there’s reason for hope in Milwaukee. The Bucks have a 4-3 record without Antetokounmpo this season. His stellar performance this season has helped the Bucks on numerous occasions, considering he averages 30.4 points, 6.5 assists, and 11.5 rebounds. Antetokounmpo further also boasts an impressive postseason track record. Throughout his career, he’s averaged a staggering 26.6 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 9.6 assists per game in the playoffs. His 2021 Championship run, that earned his Finals MVP title, also led the Bucks to their first championship since 1971.

Hence, Bucks will hope for Antetokounmpo’s full recovery before the post season. His dominance on both ends of the court is nearly unmatched. He is a one-man crew for Bucks. If he misses the playoffs the Bucks will have a significant gap to fill. While they have a talented roster, no other player can replicate Giannis’ unique blend of size, strength, and athleticism. “Just encourage him to get right, don’t rush… Not one guy’s gonna replace somebody like that,” Khris Middleton asserts. Currently seeded second, however, the team will look towards collective effort to build on the momentum.
