After sharing the Crypto.com Arena with LA Lakers forever, the LA Clippers will soon be moving to their new home, the highly anticipated $2 billion “Intuit Dome”. This fancy new arena is packed with all sorts of cool features, but one in particular has everyone buzzing: The Wall. LA Clippers superstar Paul George, in the latest episode of Podcast P with Paul George, discusses the controversial policy and the potential risks it carries with it.

Labeled as the home-court advantage, the Wall is basically a section in the arena where fans wearing jerseys of any team other than the Clippers, risk having their seats revoked. While discussing “The Wall”, PG explains, “The Wall is supposed to be for the second half. The road team gets to pick which side they wanna start on.”

Paul George further elaborates, “In every game…your offense could be in front of your bench in the first half or you want your offense to be in front of your bench in the second half…so when you think about it we’re gonna be facing the wall. Ain’t no opposing team gonna be like all right yeah we’re cool we’ll play the second half in front of the wall.” he says in light of the fact that “the Wall” rule is to be implemented in the second half of the game.

But when talking about the wall, PG13 also had a few interesting “what if” scenarios to discuss about Steve Ballmer’s “Clippers Fans Only” rule.

Certified Clippers Fans Only

“Podcast P” also discussed an interesting example: a married couple where each partner supports a different team would be unable to sit together in any of the 51 uninterrupted rows of The Wall. Only certified Clippers fans, known as “Chuckmark-certified fans,” will be eligible to purchase tickets to The Wall. These tickets can then only be resold to other certified Clippers fans on the team’s Ticketmaster marketplace.

The last historic game between the two LA teams took place on February 29th, with the Lakers emerging victorious 116-112. It was also the last time they shared their home stadium. The Clippers often felt sidelined at the Crypto.com Arena, like they were “renting out the place” while the Lakers owned it, as Paul George put it.

The All-Star-laden LA Clippers have had a great season so far, with a 39-21 record and sitting pretty at number 4 in the Western Conference. On the other side, the LA Lakers, with a record of 34-29, are the 9th seed in the West. Despite their current stats, the Crypto.com Arena is likely to have more fans in yellow and purple than white and blue. But with The Wall coming into play, expect them all to be roaring for the Clippers! Share your thoughts in the comments below.
