Nikola Jokić defeated the Golden State Warriors in a wild buzzer-beater tonight! Watching the Serbian superstar land shots one after another, leading the Dubs players in circles, had the entire arena looking on in awe. And his crazy basketball skills gave one particular rookie the chills. He left Brandin Podziemski in shock.
Talking to reporters post-game, the Warriors’ rising star rookie was reminded of the Lakers-Nuggets Western Conference Final. “All I thought about was him against the Lakers last year in the playoffs making those crazy shots over Anthony Davis. As soon as I saw him load up his feet like he was gonna shoot. Just the way that momentum was going to the game, had a good chance of going in,” he finished wistfully.
Brandin Podziemski’s thoughts as he saw Jokic’s shot go up: “All I thought about was him against the Lakers last year in the playoffs making those crazy shots over Anthony Davis. As soon as I saw him load up his feet like he was gonna shoot. Just the way that momentum was going…

The instance he mentions here is none other than Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. While the said game had many instances where Nikola got one over AD, there was an exactly similar buzzer-beater by “The Joker” then. The only difference was instead of Kevon Looney, Davis was draped all over Jokic.
With the third quarter drawing to a finish quickly, the 2x MVP landed a shot from beyond the arc. It was a Hail Mary at best. The 25-year-old center had no choice other than to take that risk. Anyway, the result was a 132-126 win in the first game of the series.
So what about tonight?
The Nuggets kick the Warriors out of their comfort zone at home
Although Denver held the lead throughout the first half, the Warriors were careful not to fall too far behind. But the momentum suddenly shifted, going into the second half. Golden State looked positively vicious as they left the Nuggets biting the dust with a gaping 20-point deficit.

But Nikola Jokić is not one to accept defeat lying down. He rallied his team to at least close the gap. With the Nuggets looking like stealthy mercenaries (though it’s doubtful anyone would put Nikola and stealth in one sentence), they began to hack away at the proud Dubs.
Tying the game at 127 with just four seconds left in the game, the moment Brandin Podziemski described took place. Looney stuck to “The Joker” like Batman, leaving Nikola, once again with no choice but to heave a 35-feet 3-pointer directly into the hoop at the buzzer.
The rest is history. The Nuggets won 130-127 tonight, leaving a stunned Warriors crew and their loyal fans at Chase Arena positively traumatized. Unfortunately, the Warriors need to snap out of it quickly as they will be facing the Detroit Pistons next.
