The Golden State Warriors (6-7) are stuck in a five-game losing streak after yesterday?s game. Trailing behind the Oklahoma City Thunder, 109-128, the Dubs Nation was unable to confine the explosive young side of the opposing team. And the absence of lead scorers aggravated the situation.

However, with the recurrent loss of stats, the ?trade-off? talks have begun. This time, it might be the shooting guard who has to take the hit this season. With the recent comment made by a former NBA champion, chances seem bleak for Klay Thompson.

In a recent media interaction with Malika Andrews of ESPN, Kendrick Perkins was quick to make his decision-turned-recommendation for the Dubs. When asked about the Warriors?s recent loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the former NBA champion had a lot to say. Perkins said, ?Well, if Klay can?t get it, That?s a problem. We are looking at what he is averaging right now: 13 points per game. Do we realize that Klay has had an average under 15 since his rookie season? And when I look and when I watch the game last night, I am looking at the speed and athleticism of the Oklahoma City Thunder. And I am watching them guard Klay.”

Adding to the narrative of how there?s been enough tension between the player and the franchise about the contract extension, Kendrick Perkins was quick to comment on his trade. Perkins said, ?Whatever the case might be, it?s actually time for Golden State to move from Klay Thompson.? The four-time champion did fall short of providing cover for the team in times of need. Since Stephen Curry and Draymond Green were missing from the hardwood, the onus lay on Thompson to carry the offense. However, the current five-losing streak just happens to worsen the image of the main shooting guard.

?Game 6 Klay,? even with his 6?6 frame, 6’9 wingspan, and high release, is not able to carve out the space he once could to attempt jumpers. The younger and more athletic defenders dampen his game through the extra milliseconds he now takes to do a pull-up, a step back, or even an escape dribble. Although Curry was missing from this game, the argument still holds because, even with the Golden Boy on the floor, Thompson records a below-average 35.4 percent from three.

It was not just Klay; the OKC displayed A-level athleticism with a pinch of ?We are on the rise? in yesterday?s game.

Why did the Warriors lose to the OKC?

Lack of leadership and main players on the hardwood might be the foremost reason why the shorthanded Warriors had to deal with another loss. While the head coach decided to rest Stephen Curry owing to the recent injury scare, the power forward got banned for five games. The absence of Chef and Draymond Green dumped pressure on Thompson. Since Thompson was unable to put up his previous record of impeccable half-court creation season of his career, the franchise went for a potential loss in the second unit.
