More than being a revolutionary quarterback, Tom Brady’s immense success is largely due to his deep study of the game. The seven-time Super Bowl champion meticulously studied plays and harnessed the best out of his teammates. Recently, the revered QB was given a simple task. To build an NFL team. However, there was just one catch, he could only have players from the Team USA basketball team.
Against the convention, Brady didn’t show any signs of struggle as his first pick might be out of favoritism. Unlike the Olympic struggles, where he barely featured, Jayson Tatum got the honor to be the first pick of Brady’s NFL side. He picked JT as his quarterback, the most prominent position in football. Aside from showing his love for the Boston Celtics, he also led with the obvious choices.
Brady picked LeBron James to be his tight end. Having a history of being one of the top high school football players, the King was a no-brainer. But as he began to piece it together, he realized he needed a “down the field” threat as one of his two receivers. So he shifted James to that spot to utilize his explosiveness and atomic athleticism. He paired him up with Devin Booker, claiming to have seen his skill on the field firsthand.

At running back he needed someone agile and confident. Up came Anthony Edwards. Tom Brady then had a choice for his final spot for tight end. Who would be the Rob Gronkowski to Tatum? The former Patriot chose two heavyweights Anthony Davis and Joel Embiid for the position. As towering and imposing seven-footers, they do seem to be the most effective at handling the immense workload and physical beatdown a tight end endures.
That means there was no place for Stephen Curry. Maybe because of his size or that he beat the Celtics to a championship in 2022, but Steph Curry did not make the cut. Nevertheless, Tom Brady had curated a great team. And he gave his seal of approval, “That’s a squad” he said. And it’s hard to doubt the visions of one of the greatest football players of all time.
Despite his football history, Tom Brady has no spot for Kevin Durant

There weren’t many surprising snubs but one from Brady. That was Kevin Durant. No, he doesn’t have the accolades that LeBron James or Edwards do. However, during the lockout season in 2011, KD proved to be just as versatile on the football field, as he is on the basketball court.
It began with him showing up to an invited game, where he played quarterback and defense. He finished with throwing four touchdowns and three interceptions, earning the match ball. The performance sparked a challenge from a man who would become his eternal rival, King James himself.
Thankful that the LeBron-KD flag football game exists 🙏🏽 pic.twitter.com/ffPxJejdjM

They met in Akron for a tag football game. And neither of them was disappointed. James’ team eventually won by the margin of a single touchdown. But Durant put in serious work, even ‘Mossing’ the vivacious James during the televised friendly football game. Furthermore, it only helps that he is an ardent football fan. Sadly, he didn’t make the cut for Tom Brady.
