The Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young had been trailing Oscar Robertson for some time. He finally caught up with the veteran. When it came to scoring double-doubles, Young has been at the forefront of the offense for the Hawks. With a hawk-like vision, he has been able to assist. And with inch-perfect precision, he has scored points. These abilities make him like a double-edged sword in the offense.

As his team faced the Miami Heat, Trae Young geared to register multiple records to his name. Each is outstanding in its own right. Brushing shoulders with Robertson in the history record books made the match memorable for Young and his fans.

Atlanta Hawks trailed behind the Miami Heat in the fourth quarter. They finally lost the game with 122-113.  He scored his 185th career point/assist double-double before turning 25. This ties him with Robertson. With encounters ahead, he is likely to dethrone the legend.

Young played for 36 minutes and scored 30 points, 14 assists, and 4 rebounds. He also had one steal in his kitty. His shooting too was impressive. His shooting scored 10/18 from the field and 5/8 beyond the arc. He averages 28.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 11.1 assists in 25 games.

Young was mindful of his career trajectory. When he scored 113 such performance in January 2023, he had expressed satisfaction that he was coming into the category of the greats. Young had said, “That means I’m doing something right if I’m in the category with him, a legend, a Hall of Famer, means I’m doing something right. So I just got to keep going, not pay attention to it & just let the winning & take care of everything else.”

But that was not the only record that Young was satisfied to make in the game.

He moved upward in the all-time highest assists scorers list.  Young currently holds the 160th position on the list after passing Pete Maravich. The list is topped by John Stockton, Jason Kidd, and LeBron James.
He also had six consecutive games with 30+ points and 10+ assists. The streak started on December 13 against the Toronto Raptors. He is ahead of Tiny Archibald, Micheal Jordan, and Rusell Westbrook. He is currently tied with Oscar Robertson in the second place. In his next encounters, the young star will be looking to set and break more records.
