One of the greatest assets for any basketball player is their height. That’s the advantage they keep looking out for. No one has broken Gheorghe Muresan’s 2.31m (7’7”) record so far. But surely, someone as competitive as Zion Williamson could easily work with a much lower height than Muresan. However, surprisingly his recent ventures with Luka Doncic and Jayson Tatum are raising some eyebrows. But why?
The 24-year-old Pelicans power forward was in China as a part of the Jordan Brand Family Tour. Williamson and his NBA rivals-turned-friends enjoyed themselves while soaking in the culture of the Chinese heartland. Meanwhile, some stunning and ‘sick’ flicks by Zion Williamson have turned several heads. Many are wondering how tall the frontman of the Pelicans is. But why has this question suddenly popped up? The simple answer is, compared to Doncic or Tatum, Williamson’s stature might look slightly smaller. However, somehow Zion seems to have grown a few inches taller than Doncic! Recent clips of the American boys vs Chinese boys in an interesting game of basketball got the fans curious. What in the optical illusion is that?

In 2019, Zion Williamson declared for the NBA Draft and the New Orleans Pelicans selected him that same year. Since then, there’s been no turning back. With an average of 24.7 points per game, Williamson has emerged as one of the top performers in recent times and he has had impressive performance after impressive performance. This itself is a compliment in many ways. However, the audience is curious to know: How tall is Zion Williamson? With a striking 1.98m (6’6″) height, Zion might not be the tallest NBA star at the moment, but his resilience and consistency make up for the gap.
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old Boban Marjanovic with a staggering height of 7’4” tops the list of tallest players currently. Compared to him, the Pelicans’ forward is small. Luka Doncic who’s 6’8″, and Jayson Tatum who’s 6’9″ also have a slightly better edge, height-wise, than the 24-year-old Williamson.

Players like Muggsy Bogues (5’3″), Greg Grant (5’6″), and several other “short” players have left their mark on the sport. And compared to them, Williamson has a ‘good’ height, favorable to impress the audience. But, just to let it out there, height is just a number, a mere measurement. Skills and talent go a long way instead. The once-upon-time Naruto Uzumaki fan, Zion, now finds himself pulling up his personal ‘jutsu’ standing on the frontline for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Moreover, Zion’s tour of China has been quite an interesting view for the fans. It was a one-of-a-kind experience for the players, as they carried themselves as the face of a very special campaign. Carrying Michael Jordan’s forever-waving flag to the Land of the Dragons, Zion Williamson, and others had an outstanding stay there. Moreover, this proved to be another step towards hitting the global goal of basketball. And dare we say, the NBA All-Stars did a great job in this campaign.
Zion Williamson and others take over China for the Jordan Brand
Marking its first tour, the Jordan Brand sent its roster of NBA All-Stars to China. This promotion campaign turned out to be more eventful than expected. Of course, people rushed in to see the American giants (quite literally) in action and conversation. And guess what attracted the crowd more? The name ‘Jordan’. Basketball royalty, Michael Jordan is responsible for turning basketball into a global sport. So the current list of signature Jordan Brand athletes should continue the work of basketball diplomacy.
Jordan Brand sent its most renowned stars, namely: Zion Williamson, Jayson Tatum, and Luka Doncic. The tour represented a historic moment as the players introduced the brand to China. Their emphasis on growing the game and culture in the Eastern country seemed to have impressed the audience. Chinese youngsters flocked in to meet the NBA players, who in turn offered to click selfies, sent out signed jerseys, and more to them. Zion was doing some impressive flicks with Doncic and others and also hiked up to the Great Wall of China.
