The matchup between the Sacramento Kings and the New Orleans Pelicans concluded just a few minutes ago. While the Kings had secured a good seed in the Western Conference, the same seemed to be slipping away as they lost 5 of their last 8 games. Another loss would have heavily dented their playoff race. However, Zion Williamson and Co. failed to deliver and lost the game 123-135. The attendees at the Golden 1 Center were clearly unhappy, with one of them making their presence felt in a very unusual way.

During the final 46 seconds of the game, the Pelicans led their rivals by 11 points. As Zion Williamson attempted to rush toward the hoop, the referee suddenly blew the whistle and halted the game. An audience member had shockingly thrown a piece of chicken onto the court. This left the commentators in a daze, with one of them saying,“Why would someone throw something that good out on the floor? It’s crispy, It’s warm….and I’m so hungry”. It didn’t take long for this clip to go viral on social media.

Various people, who may or may not have been watching the game live, took to the comments section. Instead of turning their attention to the attendee, they turned to Zion Williamson.

A user highlighted the Pelicans point guard’s confused expression after the on-court camera turned on him.

Possibly being aware of all the stories scouring the net about the player’s supposed liking for chicken, a social media user provided his theory on who was the owner of that “crispy” food item.

With the Kings behind by a huge gap and Zion Williamson having already scored 25+ points, an individual theorized that throwing the chicken was just a way to get him thrown off his game.

While some took the opportunity to comically troll the 23-year-old player, others chose to pull the cameraman’s leg too!

The overall vibe in the comments section was a fun one as NBA fans used this unexpected incident to humorously poke the belly of the Pelicans’ highest average scorer this season. Let’s move on to another interesting story.

Zion Williamson’s draft inspired Popeyes to release a 6’10” chicken item in his honor!

Zion Williamson has never come out to clearly state that he is a big fan of chicken. In fact, he had even dropped some clarifying remarks after a couple of people mistook his 5-year-old brother’s chicken tenders as his. The absence of a clear declaration of love for non-veg food, however, did not stop a famous fast-food brand from uniquely honoring the player.

Back in 2019, it was becoming increasingly likely that Williamson would be drafted into the NBA by the Pelicans. In order to celebrate the soon-to-be professional player and the NBA draft as a whole, Popeyes announced that they would be selling a 6’10” long ‘Wingspan Box’ for a day! Being of the same length as Williamson, the box would be made up of 77 boneless wings, 11 biscuits, and 11 servings of French Fries for $74.69.

Despite the player not even being officially drafted yet, the team over at Popeyes seemed to have had confidence that he would get selected and go on to become an exceptional player. With Zion Williamson having played in the NBA for 4 years, recording over 4,500 career points to his name, that gamble seems to have paid off well.
