Discipline is non-negotiable for David Griffin. If not maintained, stepping aside becomes the only option. This is a principle the Vice President has made crystal clear. The franchise took a bold step by suspending Zion Williamson. The news caught everyone off guard right before the team’s trip to Philly, leaving many wondering—why?
Apparently, missing a flight can also mean missing a game. Zion Williamson’s failure to meet team standards led to his suspension for one game. However, this decision wasn’t abrupt. Coach Willie Green revealed that Zion had violated “team policies” multiple times before, which ultimately led to New Orleans‘ decision. Nevertheless, Zion quickly made amends and the suspension is now over. So, what’s next? Will the two-time All-Star return to the court as the team marched to Boston for their next matchup?

It seems like Zion has set his alarm right on schedule this time, as the Pelicans have reportedly confirmed that their star player will be included in the roster for the crucial clash. Zion just made his comeback against the Timberwolves after missing 27 games due to an unfortunate hamstring injury. However, his miseries didn’t end there. He was sidelined again for the next game against the Trail Blazers as the medical team felt he needed further reconditioning. Then he was handed a suspension. But that’s it. Finally, he’s making his return.
Not only Zion but Trey Murphy III has also been cleared from the injury list. Murphy, who was last seen in action against the Wizards, had been sidelined after spraining his left ankle. After a three-game absence, the combo forward is set to lace up and return for the showdown against the defending champs.
The other player who might join them today from the list is Dejounte Murray. The All-Star guard has been a constant face appearing in the Pelicans squad since late November after coming back from his fractured left hand surgery. But now the team has listed him as questionable because of a soreness in his right elbow. His condition will be monitored before the final decision is taken regarding his availability for the game.

Meanwhile, Brandon Ingram and Herbert Jones have been ruled out. Ingram is dealing with a sprain on his left ankle and hasn’t fully recovered from it. Jones, on the other hand, has a torn labrum, which will keep him out indefinitely.

As for the Celtics, they now have only one player on the injury report. According to CBS Sports, the franchise has removed Jordan Walsh’s name from the list, who was added because of an illness. This leaves them with Drew Peterson. The 25-year-old has already missed Boston’s previous game against the Kings and will miss this one as well, as he has not cleared the NBA’s concussion protocol yet.
Can Zion Williamson’s return upset the Celtics?
Zion Williamson has played only seven games this season, averaging 22.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. Despite his impressive stats, he has only been able to lead the team to two wins. However, there’s no denying the forward’s potential to make a huge impact on their offense.
