The Los Angeles Lakers have not kicked off the regular season the way they would have wanted. They have lost five of their first eight games and are sitting in the 11th spot in the Western Conference standings. Even though LeBron James and Anthony Davis are trying their best to keep the Lakers afloat, the purple and gold are in desperate need of another superstar. All the top title contenders in the league have three or more superstars on their roster, and the Lakers need to match that to make a run for the title.

ESPN?s Michael Wilbon has a perfect third star for the Lakers who can help LeBron James and Co. win a Championship this season. And his name is Zach LaVine.

LeBron James and Co. have struggled early in the season. No players apart from King James and Anthony Davis have stepped up to help the Lakers win games consistently. Fans expected Austin Reaves to take up that mantle, but he has failed to hold his end of the bargain. Reaves has had a mediocre start to the season, averaging only 13.1 points so far. ESPN?s NBA Today panel discussed the early struggles of the Lakers and their need for a third star. ?I got a guy,? Michael Wilbon said, suggesting a name that could potentially help the Lakers win a title, ?Zach LaVine?.

Zach LaVine is a 2-time All-Star who is in the middle of his prime, and his potential is being wasted in a mediocre team like the Chicago Bulls, he opined. LaVine expressed his desire to play with LeBron James during an interview in 2020, ?Everybody wants to play with the best players in the world. I would love to go out there and play with a dude like LeBron James.? This might be a chance for the 28-year-old guard to chase his LeBron James dream in LA.

How will Zach LaVine fit with LeBron James and co?

Zach LaVine has been a star in the league for quite a while. But he hasn’t got his due recognition. Brian Windhorst revealed the Chicago Bulls might blow up their roster anytime this season, and many scouts are attending Bulls games to assess the potential of Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. LaVine is also tied to a massive 5-year $215 million contract that the Bulls would love to get rid of.

If the Lakers end up acquiring Zach LaVine, he might prove to be the missing piece for their success. LaVine is the primary scorer on the Bulls, who shoots at a decent percentage from three and can take over the game on any night. LaVine is just 28 years old, and his young shoulders can take a lot of load off LeBron?s shoulders. Zach LaVine might be what the Lakers need right now. Do you think LeBron James and Co. should pursue Zach LaVine to improve their chances of winning a championship?
