The Sacramento Kings are back to their winning ways after stumbling against the Denver Nuggets. Tonight, they beat the San Antonio Spurs quite convincingly with a 127-109 score at the final whistle. The Kings’ Zach LaVine was unbelievably good tonight with a 36-point haul. And it seems his wife couldn’t help but contain her joy and excitement for him, even if she isn’t the biggest fan of his new look.

Zach’s wife, Hunter LaVine, took to her Instagram story to celebrate her husband’s stellar performance tonight. But she didn’t just congratulate him, she also had a request for Zach. “Bucket boy!!!! Now bring back the beard😅,” she wrote on Instagram. It seems the mustache and goatee just aren’t cutting it for Hunter.

Switching gears for a bit, Zach kind of spoiled De’Aaron Fox‘s homecoming to the Kings with his performance tonight. After all, Fox was their biggest star before his move to the Spurs, and Zach was the one brought in to replace him. But tonight, Fox was outshone on every level by the display put on by LaVine. He was deadly accurate tonight with his shots, from beyond the arc and within. He shot at a 63.6% clip, making 14-22 field goals, 7 of which were 3-pointers. What a great signing he’s been for the Kings!

His partnership with DeMar DeRozan under coach Doug Christie has been nothing short of phenomenal. In that vein, here’s what the duo had to say about their team’s victory tonight.

DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine reflect on their performance against the San Antonio Spurs

It wasn’t only Zach LaVine who popped off against the Spurs tonight. DeMar DeRozan, LaVine’s running mate from the Bulls, also had a great night. DeRoz put up 22 points, 7 assists, and 9 rebounds to help the Kings to victory over San Antonio.

And later, at the post-game press conference, DeRoz revealed how they felt after returning to winning ways after losing their last game to the Nuggets. “It was big, especially after a tough loss on the road the other day…Coming in, [we] knew the energy was gonna be high playing against Spurs with Fox coming back and everything. It was a perfect game for us to bounce back at home,” said the Kings’ forward.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Zach LaVine the new face of the Kings, or does De'Aaron Fox still hold that title?

LaVine echoed his teammate’s sentiment, “Every game is so important and I think we played really good in Denver. So the sense of urgency to be able to come back here and bounce back quick was good for us.” Zach also revealed that Fox’s return added some extra pressure for him to perform well, and judging by his numbers, we’d say that pressure was really helpful.

All in all, Zach will be delighted by tonight’s game. And he’ll go home to a happy wife, albeit one who wishes he’d bring his beard back. Nevertheless, it’s a good time to be  Zach LaVine!
