The Oklahoma City Thunder’s new guard, Alex Caruso recently shared some exciting news with his fans. Caruso spent three years in Chicago alongside Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan, following a four-year stint with the Lakers. While Caruso did win a championship alongside James and company, Chicago seemed to be the next chapter of his life. Unfortunately, the three seasons with the Bulls didn’t turn out so well for the guard but things have gotten better following his trade to the Thunder. If anything, Caruso’s recent announcement is a sign of the same.
AC announced his engagement to Haleigh Broucher on Friday. The couple shared pictures of their engagement on Instagram, captioned, “Forever kind of love”. Fans as well as NBA players reacted to his engagement, including Zach LaVine who welcomed him to the ‘club’. “Welcome to the club dawg!!!”, wrote LaVine. Not only that, but several former teammates also congratulated AC. “CONGRATULATIONS MY BROTHER!!!!!!!”, wrote James as he congratulated the Bald Eagle.

Josh Hart, Danny Green, Lance Stephenson, and Jared Dudley were among other NBA players who were excited for AC. Andre Drummond, however, shared his emotional reaction as he wrote, “Congrats my brother! I love you guys🥹🥹”.
The two have been together since 2022 when they were first seen together in public. Since then, Broucher has been a supportive girlfriend, having been with AC throughout his journey. In fact, Broucher wrote a big thanks to the Bulls following the trade, “I truly cherish each and every one of them and will miss them terribly. Excited for a new chapter and grateful for the old.”. Now, Broucher is a reality TV star herself. She is best known for her role as a contestant in the reality TV series, Big Brother season 20. But as of now, Brocuher is focusing on her PhD.
But as happy as the couple are for their upcoming journey in Oklahoma, Caruso’s former team seems to be going through a lot. They lost two team players this offseason, and are now left with their star, Zach LaVine. Coming from Minnesota, LaVine was a bright superstar for the Bulls. However, the recent events have changed the tide of his career.

The Bulls traded DeRozan in a deal involving three teams. They also traded Caruso for a younger star, Josh Giddey. While the Caruso trade seems to be justified, Chicago lost one of their key shooting guards. At this point, the franchise will be relying on Vucevic, Coby White, Patrick Williams, and Lonzo Ball who is looking to make his return this upcoming season. As for LaVine, the 29-year-old has been an exceptional player for the Bulls but hasn’t had much success recently.
Consequently, there have been talks around LaVine’s exit for the Bulls, but as of now, there hasn’t been any progress on the same. LaVine signed a 5-year $215 million contract back in 2022 which includes a $48.9 million player option in the last year. A trade might be possible down the line but this will also include some heavy demands from the Bulls’ front office. LaVine is in the middle of his most productive years and is likely suitable for a role on a contender team.
It will be interesting to see if the Bulls consider giving away Zach LaVine for another All-Star down the line, as the Bull enters his third year of the contract. He’ll likely return this fall, as Chicago prepares for the challenges ahead. What are your thoughts on Zach LaVine’s time as a Bull? Do you think he’d rather play for a contender? Let us know in the comments.
