There is no denying that Stephen Curry has changed the game of basketball. The NBA was a center-dominated league till the 1990s, with players like Shaquille O’Neal and Hakeem Olajuwon showing their magic inside the paint. There were very few players in the league who were allowed to take multiple three-pointers in a game, and they had to reach a certain level of excellence to do so. That was until Chef Curry showed the world that 3 is more than 2 if you can hit the shot efficiently. In today’s game, a team cannot function without good shooters, and the NBA is dominated by versatile guards. All thanks to Stephen Curry.

But a 44YO star of Samuel L. Jackson’s movie “Coach Carter” is claiming credit for the legacy of the Golden State Warriors Legend. 18 years after the release of the iconic movie, the actor believes his shot changed the NBA.

Coach Carter was a basketball movie starring Samuel L. Jackson that was released in 2005. It was about a sports store owner who goes back to his high school to coach their current team and get them ready to compete on the court and, more importantly, to compete in life. The iconic character of ‘Timo Cruz’ played by 44YO actor Rick Gonzalez, is a rebellious player on the team who chooses to take three-pointers even when he has an open lane to the basket. Rick was asked in a recent interview if his shot changed the game of basketball since he introduced the importance of the three-point shot in “Coach Carter” long before Chef Curry even entered the NBA.

“Yes. I take full credit for what I’ve brought to the game of basketball, and I’m not ashamed to say it.” The actor said. He also believes without Timo Cruz, there would be no Stephen Curry. He took full credit for Steph’s success in the NBA and said, “You’re Welcome Steph.” Obviously, Rick was not serious with his answer, and it was all in good humor.
