LeBron James started ‘I PROMISE School’ at Akron in 2018. It was meant to dissuade young children from “falling through the cracks,” and encourage them to make a future. Initially focused on at-risk students, the organization has grown to accommodate a lot more. LeBron’s mom, Gloria James, is very active with the school and its activities. While the kids would love to get more time with the NBA legend himself, it isn’t exactly ‘the ideal’ situation.

Yet, the Lakers superstar never fails to take time out of his busy schedule for matters close to his heart. As such, he decided to visit his school. He was in Cleveland to watch the Cavs vs Celtics matchup last night with his wife, Savannah. Seeing the ‘Kid from Akron’ back home made the crowd go crazy as they honored him with a tribute video and a standing ovation. It looks like something similar happened when he visited the school as well.

Welcomed to the stage by Gloria, the auditorium was swept up by screams of excitement from the students. Thanking them for all the love and support, the King tweeted the video with a sweet caption, “LOVE YALL!!!!” followed by a bunch of heart emojis and a crown.

Despite harsh comments and negative opinions from many, the ‘Akron Hammer’ has continued to give back to his community. Of course, it started small. But as he grew, so did his philanthropic initiatives. From helping kids obtain necessary school supplies to affordable housing, the LeBron James Family Foundation has now opened a whole world of opportunities for the children and their families in his hometown.

It’s quite obviously visible why they have such love for the 4x champion.

Cleveland welcomes LeBron James back home “where the heart beats strong”

LeBron James is now a global brand. The 20x All-Star’s reach goes far beyond what anyone could have imagined 20 years back. However, Bron’s legacy is not limited to a basketball legend, brilliant businessman, or strategic investor. The family man that he is, it’s all about giving back to his community. This is what endears him so much to the people.

Watching him interact and uplift young children had one fan dub it as LeBron’s “most lasting legacy.” He tweeted his appreciation on X. “This is undoubtedly your most lasting legacy. You are a good soul for starting this foundation and even a better person for showing up consistently for them. Thank you brother and thank God for you and the entire James family.”

That is one genuine, heartfelt admiration for one of the greatest in the NBA! Of course, for this fan, James’ value is in the work he puts in for his community.

Another individual has only love for the James clan. “We love you familia! Keep changing the world one mind at a time!” With the kind of fame and wealth that LeBron now possesses, his voice is one that is heard and listened to. The man in question has often spoken for the Black and other marginalized communities of society, bringing attention to their struggles and issues. Suffice it to say that Bron’s voice has indeed brought about positive changes.

One appreciative mom from Georgia shared her joy at the fine family he and Savannah have brought up. “You are a wonderful man. You have a beautiful family. I watched Bronny and I’m still watching Bryce. These kids are going to take over the NBA. You & your Queen have done a amazing job raising grounded great kids. Love from GA.” 

She couldn’t be more right! The time and energy Mrs. James and her NBA husband (as much as he can) have put in was well-spent. Not one of the power couple’s three kids has ever shown even a glimmer of superiority or assumed an air of pride because Daddy is a superstar. That is a rare trait, especially in today’s world.

A Columbus, Ohio native and a very appreciative fan has delivered quite a creative comment. “Home is where the heart beats strong, where dreams take flight, and where we rise as one. Welcome back, King, to the promise of hope and the embrace of family. Together, we soar!” If we were to go by this individual’s words, a good guess would be that she takes pride in her family and values as much as the man of the James family does.

A young LeBron has received much help from his hometown in his journey to becoming the ‘Chosen One’. The All-Time leading scorer’s respect and regard for Akron couldn’t be more clear than through his actions. And they are just as delighted to embrace him with open arms!

Finally, this fan kept it simple. “we love you LeRoleModel.” LeBron James continues to be a source of inspiration for millions around the world. For youngsters, he is the kid who made it big and imprinted his name among the big sharks. For families, the father of three, a devoted husband, and a loyal son, the 39-year-old is everything they aspire to be and have.

The 4x MVP is truly a role model, in every sense of the word.
