Embracing the title of “one of a kind” bestowed upon him by LeBron James, DJ Meel’s entry into the music world was indeed unique. Initially, Meel had never envisioned himself stepping into the realm of music. However, NFL Quarterback Troy Smith approached him, proposing the idea of a music career.
Smith not only floated the idea but also facilitated Meel’s journey by gifting him a MacBook, while a friend contributed turntables and a mixer. From that moment, Meel’s trajectory in the music industry took off without looking back. Subsequently, Meel founded the music club Selective Hearing, which has since transformed into a monthly party and expanded into a show on Taste Radio.
DJ Meel and LeBron James are connected through business as well
In 2018, DJ Meel made a bold move to Los Angeles, driven by the passion to delve into DJing and pursue a role as a Music Supervisor. Having completed a Musical Supervision program at UCLA, DJ Meel found himself approached by LeBron James’ company, the SpringHill Company.

Subsequently, he joined as a music contractor, contributing his expertise to various projects. Notably, Meel also worked on Uninterrupted’s Instagram projects. This collaboration has led to Meel and James attending the same events all over Los Angeles.
In 2020, Meel took his talents to the exterior of The Staples Center in LA Live, spinning tracks for select Los Angeles Lakers‘ games. The partnership between James and Meel extends beyond events, as they both share affiliations with renowned brands such as Nike, Beats by Dre, and others. Meel’s impressive roster of brands includes Sprite, YouTube, Remy Martin, Timberland, Boys & Girls Club of America, Cleveland Browns, Amazon Music, BET, and more.
